Amar'e Stoudemire is #1 and Amar'e Jr. is #1/2. The NBA star and player-in-training met court side with family and friends before the New York 'Knicks' competed against the Brooklyn 'Nets' on November 26, 2012. The game was held at the Barclays Center in New York City.
Amar'e Sr. and his family were one of many residents affected by the devastation of hurricane Sandy. Although he was temporarily displaced, Stoudemire thought of others in giving back to the community of Far Rockaway. "The whole area was devastated by Sandy and I wanted to help out the best I could," said Amar'e. "We had a lot of people come out to see us. I think people appreciated that we made our way out there to let them know that they were in our thoughts. We met with people in a couple of communities and checked out some of the hardest-hit areas. I am glad I could bring attention to the people still in need of help in the Rockaways and other parts of New York."
Stoudemire released his book series entitled STAT: Standing Tall and Talented earlier this year to promote literacy among school-aged children. He and fiancee Alexis Welch have jointly given to several non-profit organizations since becoming engaged earlier this year. The couple has three children together.
