You can’t keep Tyler Perry from smiling these days. The producer recently confirmed his and girlfriend Gelila Bekele’s expectancy with a big smile and lots of excitement.
“Good, good. We’re good. Very happy. She’s excited, I’m excited so we’re very happy,” said Perry to the Associated Press. The entertainment mogul was at the New York Film Festival promoting his upcoming film, Gone Girl, when he decided to confirm his expectancy.
Several rumors circulated that Tyler and Gelila were having a baby, but it wasn’t until a family friend tweeted about Gelila being pregnant that speculation began to take root. “[Gelila] is a good new friend from NYC and she is seven months pregnant,” tweeted the acquaintance. Although the friend told fans that Bekele is expecting a baby boy, Tyler did not confirm such news.
Perry told Steve Harvey last year that fatherhood was the one goal he longed to accomplish. “I know I would be a great father,” said the star. “I don’t want to work this hard. I don’t want to have all of this and not leave it to my children.”
This will be the producer’s first child.
