Quvenzhane is up for a Golden Globe nomination, and Jamie Foxx couldn’t be more excited. The co-star of the hit film Annie stopped by Miss Wallis’ room to give her personal well wishes shortly after learning of her nomination.
“She is so great at what she does, you forget she’s only been here eleven years,” said Jamie to Entertainment Tonight. “For people to look at the art and award you not with just a pat on the back or good critique, you get nominated for a Golden Globe. How many celebrities or actors and actresses have gone through Hollywood and never gotten that opportunity? For her to have [this opportunity] and [be] nominated for an Oscar, it’s just mind blowing.” The veteran actor added, “This is just inspiring.”
Quvenzhane received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in the highly anticipated film Annie on Thursday. Many were also expecting the celebrated movie Unbroken to claim a nod, but neither the film nor its lead actor, Jack O’Connell, received a nomination.
Although many of the adults in her life were ecstatic over her latest accomplishment, Quvenzhane was more on the grateful side of things. “Every kid doesn’t get Jamie Foxx to come up to them and say, ‘Congratulations on your nomination.’ So I felt like that was really special,” said the star to Entertainment Tonight.
The 72nd Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 11, 2015. Annie comes to theaters on Friday, December 19, 2014.
