Common recently responded to the startling statistics that show 72 percent of African American babies being born out of wedlock. “The number it definitely hit me hard in a way that I didn’t expect it to be that high,” said the rapper during a conversation with Larry Wilmore. “That doesn’t meant that the father’s absent,” countered the star.

The ‘Glory’ rapper further explained, “Part of the problem with young men of color is often times the only thing they seem to be passionate about is basketball or rap.”

Common is the proud father of one child.
