The stage production, which was first performed in 1978, centers around Lily and Oscar. While Lily is a talented actress, her temper keeps her from making the big bucks in Hollywood. Oscar also has his share of problems as he is a theatre producer who went bankrupt several years prior.

The two, who were once romantically involved, come into contact with one another while traveling to New York by way of train, and Oscar attempts to convince Lily that participating in a play that he has not yet written will help her career. Although the actress refuses to take part in the beginning, she eventually agrees to help Oscar, and the love that they once had for one another is rekindled.

“On The Twentieth Century” is scheduled to run through through the summer. Vanessa Williams has four kids.
