“This year, I went to Nicaragua and I took my now seven-year-old daughter Nahla with me,” said Halle of her daughter’s inspiration to open the stand. The actress was traveling for the World Food Program at the time. “During that trip, what I realized as a parent is it’s my responsibility to teach children the importance of taking care of children,” shared the star.

Nahla was so influenced by the children who were less fortunate than her that she packed up a number of her valuables and sent them to the kids in Nicaragua. “She started to think, ‘Well, I don’t need two bikes do I? Wow, I don’t need 15 American Girl dolls, do I? No,'” said Berry. “I’m so proud of her,” added the celebrity. “It’s important to teach your children about caring for children.”

Nahla is Halle Berry’s daughter with Gabriel Aubry. The actress, who also has a son named Maceo with husband Olivier Martinez, was the recipient of the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA’s Kaleidoscope Award at this year’s Kaleidoscope Ball held in Culver City, California.
