“Do female black lives matter too?” That’s the latest question that Amandla Stenberg is posing after getting into an dispute via Twitter with Kylie Jenner.

The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan shared a picture of herself wearing cornrow braids earlier this week, which infuriated Amandla. While many thought that the Hunger Games star was accusing Kylie of mocking African American culture, the actress was actually attempting to shed light on the fact that African American women’s features are praised more than African American women.

“While white women are praised for altering their bodies, plumping their lips and tanning their skin, black women are shamed although the same features exist on them naturally,” shared Stenberg in a Twitter post after the debate between her and Kylie garnered media attention. “Deeply ingrained into culture is the notion that black female bodies, at the intersection of oppression, are less than human and therefore unattractive.”

The young star went on to discuss how the media often overlooks African American women, and ended by asking the tough question: “Do female black lives matter too?”
