Yara Shahidi was one of many stars to attend the NYLON Young Hollywood Party in West Hollywood on Thursday. The party was presented by BCBGeneration at HYDE Sunset: Kitchen + Cocktails.
Shahidi took several pictures at the event, including one of herself with a guest. The ‘Black-ish’ star was also photographed while holding a BCBGeneration gift bag.
Yara recently broadened her horizon into the field of fashion. The young star signed with New York’s Women Management modeling agency and expressed determination in making a positive impact in the industry.
“It’s about more than just creating an image that is pretty,” she told Vogue shortly after signing with Women Management. “Photography can capture your aura and represent a moment in your life, and for me, it’s fun to collaborate and to show people those different moments.”
Yara further explained, “It’s important to see yourself in media. The visuals we’re presented with allow us to understand that things are attainable. If you turn on the television and only see black drug dealers or black people in poverty, it shapes your opinions. I think it is part of our duty as content creators and people within the entertainment industry to challenge those stereotypes.”
