Jennifer Hudson and her son, David Otunga Jr., were two of many stars to attend the XQ Big Reveal in Washington D.C. earlier this week. The celebrity mom and her partner were all about spreading good vibes.
“Made it to D.C.,” she shared with Instagram fans. “Just in time to spread some love.” David was photographed while giving mom “the look.” Jennifer was the cool mom who side-eyed her son while propped against the wall. Another candid showed Jennifer and David headed back to Los Angeles. “Our work is done here,” she captioned.
XQ Big Reveal is a part of a bigger initiative called XQ America. The purpose of the project is to shed light on the educational system as it pertains to high school students in the United States. Instead of using traditional means to give knowledge to teenagers, the initiative challenges teachers and administrators to think outside of the box and use tools from the Digital Age to enlighten students.
XQ America is a competition in nature as more than 700 teams throughout the country are working to have their ideas placed on display. Russlynn Ali, CEO of XQ Institute, tells media that the initiative has ignited a spark in participants.
“Everyone involved in the XQ movement believes that high school education is fundamental to a vital nation,” he explains. “We are awed by the enthusiasm, optimism and renewed respect for public education reflected in so many of the applications. No prize, no matter how large, can create that kind of authentic renewal of faith and hope. XQ didn’t make that, this challenge is only a vehicle for teams and communities to do it themselves.”
The XQ movement extends to 45 states and the territory of Puerto Rico since its inception. Jennifer Hudson and her fiance, David Otunga Sr., are the proud parents of one child.
