Having a hundred and four days, more or less, of summer vacation, for many, is extremely hard to say goodbye to. However, fifth-grade Chicago teacher, Dwayne Reed, is going above and beyond the call of duty, getting his students ready and excited for the upcoming year.
The LEARN Campbell Elementary school teacher created a music video last year for his incoming class and it is definitely inspirational, so much so that it inspired the favorite American clothing brand, Old Navy, to develop the ONward! music project, where they scout and find teachers that are inspiring their students through song.
“[Mr. Reed] engages his students through original rap songs and his coined his musical style, “Urban Disney,” a press release announcing the initiative stated. “In addition to penning his own lyrics, Mr. Reed helped develop many other songs on the ONward! album, working closely with several of the teachers selected from all around the country.”
