Ciara is grateful for a husband, Russell Wilson, who shares her approach to parenting. The celebrity mom tells Yahoo! Lifestyle about her rearing style that is heavily dependent on the divine.
“It is a blessing that we both share the same vision and we really do believe that you gotta have God at the foundation,” Ciara says of her and Russell Wilson’s approach to parenting in the twenty-first century. “We both know that if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be in the positions that we’re in, we wouldn’t have the blessings that we have,” the ‘Greatest Love’ singer shares. “So it all comes back to that. And ultimately understanding that legacy is important to us. What legacy are we leaving behind for our kids? We also hope that they’ll do better than we do.”
What does good rearing entail in this era of #MeToo in which young men are seemingly scrutinized more often than not? Ciara says teaching her son to be a model gentleman is founded in love.
“Love him in the best way that you can and continue to be right there by their side through it all,” Ciara says of her philosophy on what makes a fine young man. “And when they may not make the best decisions, don’t discourage them, encourage them,” she continues. “All that kind of stuff I think is important, and hopefully we’ll plant the seeds and give them the tools they’ll need to truly succeed in life.”
